Thanksgiving Recipes For Kids

Thanksgiving Day has been celebrated since 1621 when the Wampanoag Indians and the Colonists of Plymouth shared an autumn harvest. When the Pilgrims had their first successful harvest of corn, they celebrated by inviting their allies; a colony of Native Americans. Though there were no pies or even much sugar for that matter, their celebrations included the deer that was brought by the tribes and most of the dishes are likely to have been prepared with spices native to the Native American tribe. This was said to be the first Thanksgiving dinner. Every year, different colonies celebrated this day and in 1863, President Abraham Lincoln proclaimed that Thanksgiving Day was to be nationalized and held annually in November. The hallmark of the special day is the turkey, pie and cider. This year, involve your children and whip up something absolutely special that they can enjoy on Thanksgiving this year!
