Ghost is one the most romantic movies ever made. It was released in 1990 and starred Patrick Swayze and Demi Moore. The script for the movie has been penned by Bruce Joel Rubin and it has been directed by Jerry Zucker. The film gained immense popularity and was nominated for a number of Academy Awards. "Ghost" won the Oscars for Best Original Screenplay and Best Supporting Actress (Whoopi Goldberg). It is an ideal movie to watch on Valentine's Day as you snuggle up with your beloved. Story
Sam Wheat (Patrick) is bank executive, who lives in with his girlfriend, Molly (Demi). While out on a date, a mugger named Willie encounters them and demands Sam's wallet. Before Sam could do something about it, the mugger shoots him. Sam dies but his spirit is unable to crossover. Sam stays with Molly without her knowledge. He could not to communicate with her in his spiritual form. Some days later, Willie (who killed him) breaks into the apartment but Sam manages to scare him away before he could hurt Molly. On following him, Sam discovers where he lives and also gets to know a dirty secret.
Sam decides to do something about and goes to a spiritual medium, Oda Mae Brown (Whoppi Goldberg) and asks for her help. He convinces her to tell Molly about the guy who broke into the apartment. Things take an interesting turn when Molly tells Sam's friend Carl about Oda Mae and what she had to say about Sam's spirit watching over her. As Carl goes out to find the truth, Sam follows him only to discover that he had hired Willie to kill him. Now Sam must do everything that he can to protect Molly from Carl's evil intentions. Sam removes all the obstacles from his lover's path to protect her. He also convinces Molly of his existence as a spirit, who was unwilling to believe the truth so far.
As the story progresses the end, miraculously, Molly is able to hear Sam's voice, much to his surprise. However, as soon as this happens Sam is given a second chance to enter heaven. A bright light envelops his body, which makes it possible for Molly to see him. Knowing that he will now have to finally leave earth, he bids goodbye to Molly saying that he loves her. Slowly Sam is totally absorbed in the white light and before leaving he says, "It's amazing Molly. The love inside, you take it with you. See ya." A poignant Molly watches him going, and a tear slides over her cheek as she says "goodbye" to Sam. The movie ends on a touching note and is worth watching on a romantic evening with your beloved.
