can also opt for a little wicked movies or anti-romantic movies for
Valentine's Day, if you are watching them with your single or
broken-hearted friends and feel blessed on being not so foolish to 'fall
in love' after all. Here are some of our suggestions that you can try:
- Roxanne - Laugh together and pass on some sweet comments and
praises to each other as you watch the comic situation of a man with
enormous nose, C. D. (Steve Martin), who falls in love with a
beautiful girl called Roxanne (Hannah). Of course, you both have
realized that love and beauty is not only about your looks.
- Two Weeks' Notice - Hugh Grant plays George, a millionaire
playboy who hires the lonely lawyer Lucy (Sandra Bullock), who is
devoted to fighting all the cases related liberal causes. The plot
is about how George becomes too dependent on his lawyer to the level
of seeking her help to choose his clothes. Finally, Lucy gets fed up
and giver her two weeks' notice, the period during which they both
realize that there is something else bubbling up between them. It is
some great dialogue delivery and the chemistry between the pair that
makes it a favorite for Valentine's Day.
- Sabrina (Original Version) - David Larrabee (Holden) is a rich
playboy who has been married and divorced thrice. His chauffeur's
daughter Sabrina (Hepburn) falls head over heels in love with him
but David has no time to see the simple girl. Then, the chauffeur
decides to send her daughter to Paris and she returns transformed
into a very beautiful and sophisticated young woman, who wins
David's heart at last and David is even ready to cancel his would-be
marriage to a wealthy heiress for this new flower in his life. It is
then, Linus (Bogart), the elder brother of David who is too
business-like to let David spoil everything, decides to woo Sabrina,
so that David does not cancel his wedding. The twist in the story
comes when Linus really falls in love with Sabrina and David helps
to bring the couple together. A funny yet sweet romantic movie that
portrays the complications of infatuation and mysterious ways of
love.
- The Cutting Edge - Kate Mosely (Moira Kelly) is one of the best
pairs ice skater who aspires to win an Olympic gold medal one day.
However, the partners cannot bear her attitude and leave her often.
it is then the coach (Roy Dotrice) finally decides to pair her up
with ex-Hockey star Doug Dorsey (D.B. Sweeney), who had to leave his
professional drems because of an eye injury. The love/hate
relationship between the lead pair and the the romantic tension
between them as they work together to their ultimate goal is the
highlight of this movie.
- Ever After - The real-life Cinderella story stars Drew Barrymore
who is a simple peasant girl that falls in love with a prince. The
cute movie has its engaging moments too.
- Fools Rush In - Newlyweds will love to see the real-life
struggles of a couple after their honeymoon is over. Luke (Matthew
Perry) and Isabel (Salma Hayek) are having usual troubles that
married couples often face in early years of marriage such as
assimilating different cultural backgrounds, religions, family
values, expectations goals and dreams and an unplanned pregnancy.
With time, they realize the truth in great grandmother's words
(Angelina Calderon Torres) who wisely advise them that "You
will never know love unless you surrender to it."
