Poems are loved by the young and old alike. If you wish to write a poem for your grandfather on his birthday, this article is especially for you.

Poems For Grandfather's Birthday

Poems are a great way of expressing feelings. They convey words with a rhythm that are hard to forget and this makes the same words create a deeper impact on the reader's emotions than prose on the same subject. This is why poetry has been the choice of expression for lovers, philosophers and several great thinkers over the centuries. You could write a poem to make your grandfather feel special and blessed by having a grandchild who loves him so much. Most grandparents are especially fond of poems because literary joys were among the few things that people could enjoy anywhere when they were young. This concept is difficult to understand for people of this generation whose imagination has been spoon-fed with pictorial and auditory information, with the aid of technology advancements. One need not know about the theoretical aspects of poetry such as intonation of certain numbered syllables, to write poems for their grandfathers. It is more important to write a poem with good meaning, direct or indirect, than to write a poem that uses inappropriate words just to make it rhyme with the previous sentence. Many famous poems don't even use rhyming words, although most poems do. Although many people enjoy reading poems, not all are gifted with literary talents good enough to write poems. Such people need not fret as the section below has a few lovely poems for grandfathers that you can choose from. Read on to know more.

Grandfather's Birthday Poems

A boy needs a Grandpa...
For man-to-man talks,
To go hand in hand
On companionable walks,

To fix up his toys
When they no longer go,
To tell him the things
Little boys want to know.

A boy needs a Grandpa...
To show him the way
To handle a puppy,
To teach him fair play.

To impart bits of wisdom
He's learned through the years,
That it's no disgrace
For a man to shed tears.

A boy needs a Grandpa...
To sit on his lap
And if no one is looking,
They take a wee nap,

Each wrapped in an aura
Of love and esteem,
Each smiling gently
At some special dream.

Happy Birthday Grandpa
Thanks for being there for me,
May we bask in this light
Of glee, eternally.

Happy Birthday to you!
Let this day bring much joy
for you surely deserve it.
Sit back and enjoy!

Another year older
but wiser you grow.
There isn't much more
that you don't already know

The memories we've shared
will stay forever in heart.
The memories in the future
have yet to take part.

Such a big part you are
in so many lives.
Without you here
it would be hard to survive.

So sit back and relax
for now that you see
how important you are
to so many, and me.

You always have time to listen
when everyone else is busy.

Your wisdom seems to put
my mind at ease;

You know what I'm going through
because you've been there before;

I love the talks an stories of the places
you've been and things you've seen;

You make me slow down and see the world
for what it really is.

This is my chance to tell you how much
I love you.

Grand-dad you're a handyman
If you can't fix it no one can
And even though your turning 70
It won't stop you from doing plenty
You help out even though we say you shouldn't
You do things that we know we couldn't
You're kind and funny and sometimes you get mad
But it stops us kids from acting so bad
Granddad we miss you when you're not here
But at least you'll be gardening and not drinking beer
You always encourage people to do their best
And you don't get too upset when we leave your house in a complete mess
If I were you I would be proud
For raising a weird and wonderful crowd
For loving your kids and then theirs too
For helping people as we would help you
And we hope you have a great day
And that this time is happy in every way
Happy birthday to you and we hope you have fun
Everyone thinks your brilliant and we love you a ton
So gather round and lets all shout
Because we are so privileged to have a man like granddad (grand-dad's name) about.

These poems can be written in greeting cards or on posters. Those who choose to make the poster by themselves can paint a background picture with light colors and then write a poem on it, in calligraphic font.
