Poems For Dad

In times of dire need and necessity, who is it that comes to your mind for help? It is none other than your parents - your mother and father - who will leave no stone unturned to give you the best despite the worst befalling them. They are your bedrock who will ensure that you are nurtured and protected. Right from the time you were born till as long as you can imagine, you are the fountainhead of their joy, their raison d'etre. It is not for nothing that they focus all their attention and affection on you. The ethics, morals and values that they instill in you shapes your character and guides you throughout life. It is but natural for you if you wish to make them know and recognize your love for them. Both mother and father have indispensable yet distinct roles to play in raising their child. Fathers, unlike mothers, have trouble expressing their emotions as it is believed in society that only feeble men show emotions. Dad may have withheld his emotions but that does not mean he loves you any less. There are varied options to convey your love to dad. One way is by sending him poems which help you articulate your feelings from the deepest recesses of your heart. Read on for some touching poetry.

Parent's Day Poems For Dad

Poem 1
I love you, Dad, and want you to know,
I feel your love wherever I go.
Whenever I've problems, you're there to assist,
The ways you have helped me would make quite a list.
Your wisdom and knowledge have shown me the way,
And I'm thankful for you as I live day by day.
I don't tell you enough how important you are,
In my universe you're a bright shining star.
(Karl Fuchs)

Poem 2
God took the strength of a mountain,
The majesty of a tree,
The warmth of a summer sun,
The calm of a quiet sea,
The generous soul of nature,
The comforting arm of night,
The wisdom of the ages,
The power of the eagle's flight,
The joy of a morning in spring,
The faith of a mustard seed,
The patience of eternity,
The depth of a family need,
Then God combined these qualities,
When there was nothing more to add,
He knew His masterpiece was complete,
And so,
He called it ... Dad

Poem 3
The things you taught me I will always know.
How could I not? The roots have sunk so deep:
All lessons of the heart that I will keep
No matter who I am or where I go.
Kids learn from what their parents are, and so
You are my book of life, the thoughts I reap;
Only in your arms I quiet sleep;
Under my words your voice sings soft and slow.
From you I learned the rules of right and wrong
Against which I at times had to rebel,
Though with regret I carry with me still.
How lucky I am to have been loved so well,
Even as I pushed against your will,
Relying on a father fair and strong.

Poem 4
You may have thought I didn't see,
Or that I hadn't heard,
Life lessons that you taught to me,
But I got every word.
Perhaps you thought I missed it all,
And that we'd grow apart,
But Dad, I picked up everything,
It's written on my heart.
Without you, Dad, I wouldn't be
The (woman)(man) I am today;
You built a strong foundation
No one can take away.
I've grown up with your values,
And I'm very glad I did;
So here's to you, dear father,
From your forever grateful kid.

(Joanna Fuchs)

Poem 5
I love you because you're my father,
But you're really so much more;
You're a guide and a companion;
You and I have great rapport.
You pay attention to me;
You listen to what I say.
You pass on words of wisdom,
Helping me along the way.
Whenever I'm in trouble,
You always have a plan.
You are the perfect father,
And I'm your biggest fan!
