Grandparents Day Recipes
- 1 cup Flour
- 2 Egg Whites
- 1 cup Sugar
- ¼ cup Buttermilk
- 1/3 cup Unsweetened Cocoa
- ¼ cup Low Fat Milk Powder
- 1 Banana (ripe)
- 1.4 tsp Baking Soda
- 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
- A pinch of Salt
Instructions
- You can begin by preheating your oven to around 350 degrees Fahrenheit. While the oven is working itself up to the desired temperature, you can go ahead and get the other things ready.
- Start off by applying a coat of vegetable oil onto a baking pan and then go ahead to dust the same with flour.
- In a separate bowl, add the flour (quantity to be same as mentioned in this recipe), milk powder, baking soda and salt. Once done with this, find yourself a blender and add to it the egg whites and proceed to process!
- Once done, to the same blender, add a banana, unsweetened cocoa, sugar, buttermilk and vanilla essence. Alternately, instead of using a blender, you can simply use a food processor.
- To the banana blend or the blender add the mixture of the flour, milk powder, baking soda and salt. Now go ahead and process until all ingredients are thoroughly mixed. Your batter is ready.
- Pour the batter into the greased and dusted baking pan. Bake the batter until it passes the always-guaranteed-to-work toothpick test. Once it passes the test, you can take the baking pan out of the oven, cool the cake and then munch through.
Potato Mushroom Soup
You Will Need
You Will Need
- 5 tbsp Butter
- 2 Carrots (sliced)
- 6 cups Chicken Broth
- 2 Leeks (chopped)
- 2 tsp Dill Weed (dried)
- 2 tsp Salt
- 1/8 tsp Pepper
- 5 tbsp Butter
- 1 Bay Leaf
- 400 g Mushrooms (sliced)
- 800 g Potatoes (peeled and diced)
- ¼ cup All-Purpose Flour
Instructions
- Although the ingredients may see like they are a tad too many, however, to put the potato mushroom soup together does not require too much of efforts.
- You can start off the whole process by heating a large saucepan over a medium flame. Once the pan is hot enough, you can go ahead and add around three tablespoons of butter to it.
- Once the butter melts, add to the pan the leeks and the carrots. Cook these ingredients for around five minutes before going ahead and pouring the chicken broth into the pan.
- Wait for a few seconds for the broth to look like it is going to boil, before adding the dill, salt, pepper, and the bay leaf. You can also add the potatoes to the pan and cover it and cook for around twenty minutes.
- Proceed to remove the bay leaf. Melt the remaining butter in a separate pan and add to it the mushrooms and sauté for around five minutes or until the mushrooms turn a light brown.
- Add the mushrooms to the soup and serve it immediately to your doting grandparents.
Fruit Pie
- You Will Need
- 2 (9 inch) unbaked Pie Crust
- 2 cups Apples (peeled and chopped)
- ½ cup Water
- ½ cup Sugar
- 2 cups Cranberries (raw)
- 2 tbsp Flour
- A pinch of Salt
- ½ cup Corn Syrup
- ½ tsp Orange Rind (grated)
- First things first, preheat the oven to around 425 degrees Fahrenheit. You can then place the pie crust on a 9 inch pie pan. You will need a 9 inch pie pan, because this is how thick the crust of the pie is. Don't forget to grease the pan.
- Proceed to cook the cranberries and the apples in boiling water for just about five minutes. Once the five minutes is done with, add sugar to the cooking cranberries and apples. Stir.
- Post stirring, add the flour, orange rind, corn syrup and salt. Mix well; a wooden spoon is a must here. Once you are done mixing the ingredients, remove the utensil from the source of heat and allow it to cool.
