'The Trees of the Dancing Goats' by Patricia Polacco is a popular child
Hanuka book. The story is about Trisha's family who make arrangements
for the celebration of the eight-day festivity of lights, Hanukkah. They
prepare yummy potato latkes & fabulously carve animals out of wood.
Amidst all this, Trisha visits her closest neighbors. She was expecting
that they would be busy preparing for Christmas. But, she found that
scarlet fever has victimized them and the entire family has become
bedridden. Seeing this, Trisha's family felt bad thinking that their
neighbors won't be able to enjoy their holiday. So, they thought they'll
do the decorations for their neighbors and secretly deliver them, so
that they can also celebrate their holiday. The story exhibits a perfect
example of true friendship and the spirit of enjoying together.
