Durga Aarti

Goddess Durga is one of the most revered goddesses in Hindu mythology. A consort of Lord Shiva, she is both the symbol of benevolence and fierceness. Since ages, she has been worshipped in various forms such as "Uma" or light, "Gauri" or brilliance, "Parvati" or "the mountaineer", "Jagatmata" or "the mother-of-the-world". Durga is the aggressive aspect of Goddess Shakti and is most commonly worshipped in her ten-armed warrior form, where she is seated upon a ferocious tiger. She was created to fight the monster-demon called Mahishasur. Neither Shiva nor Vishnu could prevail against him and only the joint energy of a female power could vanquish the invincible strength of the demon. So came Durga, armed with weapons by the major Gods who fought and killed the evil power and restored the heaven back to Gods. Since then, she has been worshipped by the people of earth.
